Spotlight on lilys attic

Why Email Marketing? It's As Easy As ABC!

It's that time of year again.  The beach towels and sunglasses are being replaced by backpacks and textbooks.  The empty school hallways will soon be bustling with activity, and those bright yellow school buses will wake from their summer of hibernation.

If your house is anything like mine, the kids are both anxious and excited - full of anticipation of meeting new friends and teachers, while at the same time feeling the trepidation that comes with more difficult classes and all that homework.  My girls keep trying and re-trying on outfit after new outfit, until finally, the night before the first day of school, they will pick a winner.

Marketing is not unlike those days of preparation for the first day of school.  When a business has a campaign idea, it might take a few dress rehearsals before just the right fit is found.  What type of marketing best reflects the image you want for your company?  There are so many ad mediums to choose from - radio, magazine, newspaper, television, and the list goes on - that just that part of the marketing decision can be exceedingly overwhelming.  And the actual campaign design hasn't even been completed yet.  Whatever choice is ultimately made, we can go back to the basics - the ABCs - to see why email marketing is perhaps the most efficient of all marketing tools, whether it is combined with one or more of the traditional methods or stands alone.

A is for Accessibility
Smart phones and tablets have changed the way people access their email accounts.  Long gone are the days when we checked the inbox after work or in our spare time.  Now, we check our email at red lights and in the drive-thru lane.  We update our social network statuses in the waiting room at the doctor's office.  This is just one reason that email marketing has soared from relatively unknown and unused to the single most effective and efficient marketing tool available in less than a decade.  That means that your company is literally in the consumer's pocket twenty-four hours a day.

Spotlight on The Handprint Lady
