Spotlight on A Stroke of Art

Have you ever walked through a museum or an art gallery looking at the paintings hanging on the walls and thought to yourself, “I wish I could do that?” I have. I used to watch painting shows on TV and try to duplicate what the artist was painting. They never quite turned out the same. There was one very good reason why my paintings never resembled the originals: I had no talent!

There is now a cure for those of us who have an inner artist wanting to break free but were not given the natural talent of Da Vinci or Michelangelo. That cure is A Stroke of Art. Debra Mills started A Stroke of Art as an online and freelancing business in 2004, and in October of 2011 she opened her retail studio in the Beechmount area of Cincinnati, OH. Debra is passionate about what she does and enjoys sharing her craft with others. She loves meeting new people, teaching them to paint and seeing the excitement on their face when they create their first painting. “I’m an artist, painting is what I do and I’m doing what I love. Each and every day I get up excited about coming to my studio/gallery.”

Thanks to Debra, you no longer have to think that creating a great painting is beyond you. Anyone can do it, it's easy and fun and no artistic ability is needed. A Stroke of Art is an optimistic, creative place for folks to learn the basics of painting with their friends. Classes are taught in a "Paint Along" style. The instructor will guide you step by step as you recreate the featured painting, and before you know it, you'll have painlessly created a piece of art. Decorative painting is a learned skill, and the use of pre-drawn patterns or free hand stroke work allows for the budding artist inside you to achieve a high degree of success.

Stop wallowing in self-pity over not being the next Picasso! Sign up for a class and start creating beautiful works of art! A Stroke of Art offers private painting parties such as birthday parties, bridal parties, baby showers, church groups, graduation parties, holiday parties, team building for businesses, field trips, girls night out and "FUN"draising just to name a few. Check their class schedule for other great events like painting night out, workshops in acrylic and watercolor, kid’s camp and family painting night. In-studio parties can be booked for evenings, afternoons or weekends. A Stroke of Art provides all the art supplies you will need, so all you have to do is show up and be prepared to let your inner artist shine.

Spotlight on Stiches by April

How many of you would like to turn your hobby into a money making business? That is exactly what April McKinion did!

April learned the wonderful art of sewing from her beloved grandmother. She grew up spending many hours behind a sewing machine helping her grandmother create home decor items for decorators and the public. After leaving for college, she never thought she would sew again. Thankfully she was wrong! It took over 12 years, but April found her way back to sewing. A few years after being reintroduced to her love of sewing, April decided to buy an embroidery machine. Her creations became popular, and after having several people from out of state contact her about purchasing embroidered products, she thought it was time to take the leap and start Stitches by April.

Stitches by April is an online company that offers an abundance of embroidered products, and then some. Some of the various products they carry include monogrammed pens, totes, bags and drink ware, as well as embroidered diaper bags, bibs, burpies, sippy cups, aprons, pillow cases and much much more!

Stitches by April uses Email Contact to send out monthly newsletters to inform their customers of new products, special sales and coupons. April says, “Email Contact helps me easily and effectively communicate with my customers to encourage repeat business, and then giving opportunities for interested customers to see and hear what we are all about and what we have to offer.”

If you want to learn more about this fascinating company visit their webpage or ‘like’ them on Facebook. Stitches by April has also generously offered a 10% discount to Email Contact readers. Hurry up and place your order, because the offer ends February 18, 2012!
