Spotlight on The Olive Osmond Hearing Fund

For most of us, being able to hear is something we take for granted.  We don’t understand the struggles the hearing impaired have to deal with on a daily basis.  We don’t know what it’s like to not hear your mother’s voice or the sound of your child’s laughter.  These are things we don’t think about but these are things the Osmond family has thought about and had to deal with.  Justin Osmond, the only 2nd generation Osmond who inherited the deaf gene, started the Olive Osmond Hearing Fund in honor of his late grandmother Olive.  Olive Osmond’s two oldest children, Virl and Tom, were deaf.  They were born during a time when there was little help for the parents of deaf children, and hearing aids and batteries were very expensive.  In order to raise money to purchase hearing aids for Virl and Tom, Olive’s four oldest sons, that had no hearing loss, formed a barbershop quartet and traveled to county fairs and other events before becoming famous.

"My dream was to one day have a foundation that would donate all its time and resources to help the deaf."   ~ Olive Osmond

The Olive Osmond Hearing Fund’s mission is to promote hearing-health awareness by providing educational resources and accommodating the needs of the deaf and hard-of-hearing.  They focus on bringing the gift of better hearing to children living with hearing impairments both domestically and around the world.  They are committed to raising funds that will help the local communities where the funds were raised as well as supporting programs that benefit children worldwide.

The Olive Osmond Hearing Fund uses Email Contact to send out quarterly newsletters to inform their supporters of all their past, present and future activities as well as to show their supporters where their financial contributions are going and who is benefiting.

Spotlight on Utah Kids Club

It happens every year.  The kids can’t wait for summer vacation.  They dream about all the fun they are going to have, and then a few weeks into the summer what happens?  “Mom, I’m bored there is nothing to do!”  If you are anything like me, your kids are starting to drive you nuts and you are scrambling to find things for them to do.  Well, if you live in Utah, you are in luck!  The Utah Kids Club is the answer to every bored kid’s prayers.  The Utah Kids Club was started by Cali Kellywood five years ago when she was home with her 6 month old.  They were bored and looking for things to do and people to do them with.  Cali would invite many of her neighbors and friends to go to the zoo and other activities in the Salt Lake area, but many were on a budget.  Cali came up with the idea of making it easy for parents to find fun activities for their kids to do all year long, as well as making these activities affordable for any budget.

Once you join the club you receive your Utah Kids Club card, which makes you eligible for all the great discounts.  The Utah Kids Club card is for the whole family to enjoy.  It doesn’t matter if you have 1 child or 10, or perhaps it’s just you and your spouse wanting to have a little fun.  The best part about the Utah kids Club is you can use it as much as you want and go to as many activities as many times as you want.  There is NO limit or age restriction!  After you become a member you will also have access to the Club’s current events calendar showing you all the different activities and many of the events are FREE!

The Utah Kids Club uses Email Contact to send out newsletters once a week.  Cali says, “I send a few fun, free things to do, and then let the moms know if they join the club, they can get on the members event calendar and pick out some fun activities for themselves.  The calendar has 30 or more things to do a day!  AND if they want to be a member, they get the membership card with over 250 discounts to their favorite fun centers, Boondocks, Cherry Hill, Cowabunga Bay, Mulligans, Real soccer, Bees baseball, Provo Beach Resort--everywhere you want to play!”

If you want to learn more about this fantastic company check out their website, or ‘like’ them on Facebook.  The Utah Kids Club has generously offered Email Contact readers a great discount on a family membership.  Use the coupon code “friend” and you can get your family membership for just $7.00!
