What happens when a contractor of more than 30 years and a long-time English professor decide they want to start new careers? They build a unique business named Threads of Time Creative Sewing and Retreat Center.
This unique facility is a sewer’s paradise! Owners Bill and Missi Gouty have taken the idea of a quilt shop to a whole new level. Not only will you find over 4,000 bolts of fabric, hundreds of the newest notions, sewing classes and a complete book and pattern studio, Threads of Time also offers two large sewing areas that accommodate up to 54 sewers, 5 horn cutting tables, irons and ironing-boards, 5 large design walls as well as an overnight retreat center called Threads and Beds!
The retreat center is a comfortable haven that provides all the conveniences of home with none of the distractions. All of the guest rooms have beds with Sealy Posturepedic mattresses, fresh linens, matching towel sets, and beautiful décor. Threads and Beds is open year round so you don’t have to wait for a retreat event to be put on by the shop. You can create your own sewing retreat! You may never want to leave! Threads of Time Creative Sewing and Retreat Center’s goal is to provide you with the most spacious and gracious accommodations you can find – a facility specifically designed for artistic endeavors of sewing, quilting, and scrapbooking.
Threads of Time utilizes Email Contact to send out a News Flash each and every week and have done this since the first year of our business. They now have a mailing list of about 3500 people that receive notice of their new fabric arrivals, their coming events, and their class schedules. Missi says, “The e-mail newsletters have proven to be an invaluable, affordable, marketing tool. Each week we have people calling from long distances to order a product they saw in the News Flash, and customers can forward our News Flashes to friends who have never been to our store and become interested in visiting or purchasing from us.”
